LSI Overview

Life Science Incubator (LSI) is set up within IKP Knowledge Park as a division with a key objective of nurturing start-up companies and entrepreneurs working in the areas of healthcare, agriculture, food/nutrition, bio-energy, industrial & environmental biotechnology, etc. The LSI was set up in January 2006 with an incubation space of around 3,000 sft. with the support of National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB) of Dept. of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. LSI nurtures innovation by providing modular lab space, shared common equipment, funding, mentorship, legal & IPR Support and facilitating networking.

The fully furnished dedicated lab space at LSI includes eight individual modules (incubatee unit) of 225 sft. There is a common facility which houses equipments used in Pharma/Biotech experimentation. Each incubatee unit is provided with work bench, furniture, chemical hood/laminar hood etc. and each unit is fitted with uninterrupted power supply & raw power lines, telephone and Internet connection, fire protection and detection systems, utility lines and flexible ducting with centralized air conditioning.

Considering the demand for shared facilities with specialized equipment support, an additional 3,000 sft. of incubation space [unfurnished laboratory space of varying sizes ranging from 75 to 200 sft.] and high-end analytical facility has been established with financial assistance from BIRAC, DBT in 2012.
